Our Valentines for Jesus banquet was a great success – this year we did a Saturday night banquet featuring  a spaghetti dinner.  It was also the beginning of our revival. Our evangelist, Rev. Robert Dabyadeen, gave us his testimony – being saved at the age of 19 with missionaries, Reverend and Mrs. Browning in Guyana. It was a great evening for all!

(From Teresa Hodge:   “It’s great  to see this photo of Rev. Dabydeen.  I met him when I lived in with the Brownings in Guyana when I served in Guyana with Student Mission Corps as Trevecca student.”)

Since we were raising funds for Sweet Surrender Coffee House, turned Ukrainian Refugee Center, our children sold coffee and coffee treats  before church, in the foyer where Nazarene Missions is featured.  So far, they’ve raised over $200.

PASTOR REPORTS VALENTINES FOR JESUS “MASS MUGGING” AT LENOIR CITY !

It’s been reported that there was a “mass mugging” that took place on valentines Sunday at Lenoir City First Church of the Nazarene.  All minors were identified as the perpetrators and they all got away with it.  In a secret interview one of the suspects admitted that they got away with a little more than $500.  They said this exceeded their goal and that they confirmed with the pastor ahead of time that Jesus would be pleased with this mugging.  This will go down in history as the “Valentines for Jesus  mass mugging” at Lenoir City First Church of the Nazarene.

Kids at Lenoir City 1st decorated mugs for their Valentines for Jesus offering….then, they used their beautifully decorated  mugs to collect their offering!

EmojiHILL TOP CHURCH INSPIRES WITH NMI CENTRAL POLAND LESSON, DELICIOUS POLISH FOOD!Emoji

From Hill Top NMI President, Gail Nelson:
I just wanted to share with you this morning about our February NMI Meeting last night.  We used the NMI Central information on Poland and the NCM article about the Sweet Surrender Cafe as our lesson, preparing for our upcoming Valentines For Jesus Banquet this next Saturday.  The information from both articles was so moving and an appropriate reminder that we may not all be able to go but we can pray and give, but the lesson  brought out that there are times when God gives us a specific call when our hearts are open.  We wanted to do a little something different to bring the Polish culture into the lesson so my husband Doug cooked us cabbage rolls after researching and seeing that this is a traditional polish dish.  We had a wonderful lesson and a great time of fellowship and talking about the lesson at the end.

There are times when the lesson is a lesson and there are times when God moves and the lesson becomes so personal.  I appreciate the folks I go to church with who support missions wholeheartedly! We are having our Emoji banquet on Feb. 11th at 5:00 p.m. and will receive a (Valentines for Jesus) love offering at the end of it.

WORK & WITNESS PRAISE AND NEWS

An accident, while visiting our son in November led to a break where my leg joins my hip…leading to surgery.  Deeply grateful for God’s healing so far, I can’t help but be disappointed that I won’t be leaving with the W&W team going to Tapachula, Mexico on January 31.

That team will minister at the campground where our last two “Valentines for Jesus” projects have provided a bath house and a dormitory.  They will be accompanied by Shelley Webb, former E TN District Links missionary, as guide, facilitator and translator.  The team will do physical labor on the campground, minister in VBS in several churches and worship with the people, with preaching provided by our own E TN Pastor, Edwin Rivera!  Pastor Rivera will be the first pastor from one of our E TN Hispanic churches to serve on a district W&W team!

W&W TRIP TO AFRICA NAZARENE UNIVERSTIY
Team will deliver & install  21st Century Classroom equipment funded by the $20,103 raised through “Valentines for Jesus” in 2019.  Covid has put this trip off two different times…. ANYONE  INTERESTED MUST SEND APPLICATION AVAILABLE ON NEXT WEEK’S NEWSLETTER

FROM CHAPMAN’S CHAPEL, based on Christmas Lesson from SENT Missionaries, the Hauns  (featured in Dec. Newsletter)

We had a great time again this month in missions! The adult lesson was based around Bulgaria in which we very much enjoyed hearing from our very own LINKS missionary family the Hauns 🥰 The lesson video from Joshua was very much appreciated & the additional video from Katie & the kids was a joy to share ❤️.. I made the Bulgarian Christmas bread Koledna Pitka & placed edible silver candies into each batch🥰 pastor Brian & his daughter McKynze chose the winning pieces😉”
