East TN Alabaster Offering Participation Now
Stands at 68%

NMI presidents/Pastors:  please see the attached list of churches whose Alabaster offering has been sent to GTS.  If your churches’ name is not there, and you know your church received this offering, PLEASE check with your treasurer about sending it in.  If your church has not received an Alabaster offering, please do so, and send it to GTS in February.  This is a PARTICIPATION offering. Any amount you can remit would help!

Alabaster Story  from Today’s NMI Central
(formerly Prayer Mobilization Line)

Valentines

The Church of the Nazarene in Gorre, Albania, worships in an old community center built as a lunch space for laborers. Pastor Ermal remembers eating meals with his father there when he was a child. Today, it is used as the church building and meets the needs of the community around them. This church now owns the building they worship in thanks to Alabaster offerings. As beneficiaries of Alabaster offerings in the past, the Gorre Church now gives generously every year to Alabaster so others can have buildings and property to reach their communities.

Valentines for Jesus 2022

As announced at 2021 District NMI Convention, and  reported again on last newsletter, our E TN Valentines for Jesus will be the raising of $10,000 for a dormitory on the South Border District in Mexico.  This will be the first dormitory on the campground (campers now sleep in tents, or in hammocks hung in trees).  The dormitory will house W&W teams, families, teens and children for camps, and pastors at the district campground for meetings.  IF our W&W travel opens up by the fall of 2022, we may be able to send a team to Mexico to work alongside  the Mexican team. May God bless us with a world that doesn’t have to consider covid in our planning!  E TN NMI realizes that our churches are stretched financially, but God has blessed this children’s offering for the last ten years…we’re sure our churches will pray God’s leading and do what He enables them to do.

VALENTINES FOR JESUS PROJECT 2022

Thank you, E TN, for your patience!  I’ve had several inquiries about the 2022 Valentines for Jesus project.  It’s really important to E TN NMI that we are assured that projects presented to our churches are great investments in the Kingdom for our churches and that good communication with the field involved is available. We are blessed to have Shelly Webb continuing to work with us, even though she and David have moved to Texas, and are no longer our Links missionaries.  Shelley has been helping me communicate via phone with the South Border District in Mexico.

For video from district superintendent of the Distrito Sur Fronterizo  (South Border District), click here

https://youtu.be/1eyk0onMb3Y

In order for our churches to receive credit of giving last year, Global Treasurer had to send all fundswe raised  the South Border District in Mexico.   The South Border (Mexico) district has put the overage from last year’s project into an account to go with what we raise in 2022 for a dormitory on the district campground.  This dormitory, the first at the campground, will provide a safe place for teams to stay in the future.

THANKS FOR SHARING RESOURCES
Wow!  Within a few minutes after our last newsletter requested someone to share the CD for” Kidz Passport to Missions:  Africa,” Hill Top NMI President  President Gail Nelson responded and volunteered to share,  Thanks, Gail, for sharing your resources!  NMI presidents like Gail are awesome!
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DVDs CHURCHES USED TO RECEIVE?
I’ve gotten that question over and over.
For several years, churches received DVDs for mission education.  Then, when they were no longer available, and man local NMI presidents are requesting them. They’re no longer made and sent to us…most computers no longer have DVD players!

However, stories from all six regions of the Church of the Nazarene are STILL available, for download, at

https://nazarene.org/stories

CHECK THEM OUT!  THERE ARE BEAUTIFUL STORIES WORTH SHARING!   Churches can share them in person, or send them in online communications with their people.

UPDATES FROM JOSHUA AND KATIE HAUN
Joshua and Katie Haun have been AMAZING at communicating with us in E TN!
This prayer request, from Katie, was prayed over on FB live Tuesday prayer service from Real Life Community church.

Our kids have been sick pretty consistently for about 8 weeks! I really need prayer that we can have a season of good health for our entire family. A lot of our ministry is building relationships and when we can’t be with people because some or all of our household is sick it’s really difficult to feel like we are being productive at all.

This prayer need was also shared by Joshua in today’s “Serving in Sofia” blog.
PRAYER FOR THE HEALTH OF SWEET MISSIONARY KIDS, JUDE & KAITLYN IS URGENTLY NEEDED.  E TN, LET’S ALL KEEP PRAYING FOR GOOD HEALTH FOR OUR SWEET HAUN FAMILY!

Q and A with the Hauns
Answers to questions many of you have asked about contacting Joshua and Katie Haun:
Q:  How can we mail cards, letters, and packages to the Hauns?
A:Here is our official address:  Joshua and Katie Haun
                                                   Ul. Nikola Krushkin Cholaka 23
                                                   1407 Sofia Bulgaria.
Q:  Can we send packages?
A:  We are just asking that if people send a package and a phone number is requested please give them our number. This is how couriers let you know they are delivering the  package. This is my phone number (+359) 88 806149.

Also, we know many may wish for packages to be a surprise, but this isn’t feasible as a foreigner in Bulgaria (we’ve recently learned this the hard way) because we have to track the package and watch for it to clear the customs office. So if a church or individual would like to mail us a package we would love to have the tracking number so we can follow it. They can message us through email, website or social media.
Q:  What are the ways to send monetary gifts?

A:  There are a few ways people can give. Of course the first option is our giving link through nazarene.org.

https://give.nazarene.org/donate/f/135167

 — this is the only option that a giving statement can be given for tax purposes.

However, we know that people also would like to give personally. We have had a few people reach out to us and these are the easiest options.
First, Our legal address and Power of Attorney is with Joshua’s brother Jace. If a check or cash is mailed to the address below Jace can deposit this in our personal checking account.     Joshua and Katie Haun
                   1400 Riley Drive
                   Lenoir City, Tn 37771
Second, Venmo or PayPal has been a huge way people give. We have a few supporters that wanted to give to us personally on a regular basis and they do so through these two platforms. It’s an easy way to transfer money from one place to another and it is deposited directly into our bank account in America (which we use here in Bulgaria). All you need to send money is the username listed here:      Venmo- @Katherine-Haun    Paypal- @katiebhaun

Creative Access Areas:  Imagine  living in a place where your faith was illegal

Lisa Lehaman, missionary to Thailand, on the SE Asia Field, spoke recently on our district at Elizabethton.  She publishes an informative newsletter, which shares prayer requests and praises from the countries on her field.  Her December 11, 2021 publication  focuses on the two Creative Access countries on the SE Asia field, called  CAA3 and CAA 10. for security.

Prayer Requests from Creative Access Areas on SE Asia Field:
Covid pandemic has spread again in cities and provinces in CAA3, which creates difficulties in celebrating Christmas or coordinating events. Local churches can only meet in small groups. Pastors have to go to every church member’s family for visitation, which can take many days. In CAA 10, Covid-19 is still spreading. This means that they are still in lockdown. Brothers and sisters can’t come to worship.
We pray for encouragement and strengthening of the church during this time.
Three local churches in central of CAA3 have been in trouble due to Covid. Now they have had heavy rains and flooding, which makes life very difficult.  We pray for these communities.
Praise Reports from SE Asia Field”  Thank God for his protection over members of CAA10 and CAA3. In CAA 3, we praise God for the healing of nine brothers and sisters who were infected by Covid. Despite the difficulties from Covid and the government, churches still maintain with a small number of people.

Greeneville, Knoxville South, and Lebanon First Churches submit great Alabaster offerings, taking us to 56.16% of our churches participating in Alabaster.  We’ll continue to update weekly through close of 2021.

Prayer Requested…Prayer Answered!
Many of you who follow Joshua and Katie Haun on FB have seen this picture, evidence of answered prayer.  I had already put the picture  on a newsletter draft with a report of answered prayer.  THEN, Jim & I received an email from Joshua at 3:59 this morning, telling how FAR beyond expectation God’s answers to prayer had gone.  Since he said he would be sharing this miracle with a video on their upcoming newsletter, I’ll make myself wait to let Joshua and Katie share God’s miracle themselves!  Until then, I’ll just say THANK YOU FOR PRAYING!

World Evangelism Fund
Thank you for your generous support of the Thanksgiving Offering.  Please see that all funds received are submitted promptly through Funding the Mission or by sending a check to Global Treasurer, PO Box 843116, Kansas City, MO 64184

WEF Giving Challenge from Missionary Joshua Haun:

Thank you so much for your giving. Right now, my children are napping in beds, under blankets, I am sitting on a couch even now as I write this, listening to Katie make dinner in a kitchen, that is the result of the generous giving and missional responsibility of every person who has given to the World Evangelism Fund. If you do not know what I am talking about, or if you have any questions, please ask me. Email me at jhaun@eurasiaregion.org or message me on Facebook. It is too wonderful not to know about.

The Christmas season is a time when our hearts are often inspired to give. The more you give, and spread your passion for giving to others, the more others will give.  Thank you for giving to Nazarene Missions.  You can easily give to Nazarene missionaries, such as the Hauns,…and be assured that your gift will reach it’s destination, by giving a deputation offering.
Churches can give, & receive 10% giving credit,  through Funding the Mission, or by sending  a check to Global Treasurer.
TO BE SURE YOUR GIFT GOES TO THE MISSIONARY OF YOUR CHOOSING, PUT THEIR NAME, WITH “DEPUATION” ON MEMO LINE.
Missionaries can access their deputation account for many needs, like furnishings for the Hauns’ new home,  on the field.

WHERE WE STAND ON OUR GOAL OF 100% ALABASTER PARTICIPATION
We now have 36 churches, representing  49.32%  of our churches,  that have sent Alabaster offering to global treasurer!   Add Mayland to the List of Churches that have remitted Alabaster Offering!   To view last week’s newsletter, with list of churches (or any previous newsletter) go to:
Two NMI presidents have messaged me to report that they have their people save all year, then send offering in February.  As I’ve done in the past, I I will work with our Spanish speaking churches to send in their Alabaster offerings in February.
We’ll add to this month’s report at the end of February.
This is not a contest, but it is working together to accomplish what has been an unreachable goal in the history of our district;  100% participation in the Alabaster offering.  One of our great pastors contacted me immediately after receiving the newsletter last week, saying “I thought we had sent in our offering, but we’re not on the list.”  Printing the names of participating churches is for the purpose of reminding  NMI presidents and pastors to check about their offering.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR MISSIONARIES
As we begin to think about Christmas gifting, consider giving a gift to your Nazarene missionaries through Links or their deputation account. Each missionary may have unique projects or needs; contact them to see how your gift would bring the greatest blessing before sending gifts or submitting funds.
