Thanks You, East Tennessee Nazarenes,   from the Fraziers

I received a cool thank you note, with an African giraffe on the front, in the mail today.
Then note was from  Russell and Carla Frazier.
E TN Nazarenes make such notes possible!
To those of you who hosted the Fraziers in your church, those who attended one of the deputation services,
those who prayed for the services,  and to those who gave in wonderful offerings that totaled $8,977 for the week, THANK YOU!

GREAT MISSIONARY BOOKS!

Many of our churches have been asking for missionary reading books…well, here they come!
These two books are not available through traditional missionary books outlets…
“Overcoming: Life Lessons from My Missionary Journey” by Wellington Obotte, the first native African missionary to  African nations.  Many E Tennesseans will  fondly remember Wellington and Hellen Obotte’s  two week tour of our district, delighting and challenging us!  Twenty copies of this book will be available  for $20 donation for each book, at the NMI Registration Area at District Assembly….Thanks to Martha Bean, former district  NMI President of Indianapolis district, now a member of Lebanon First Church of the Nazarene, for all the years that  you served as arranger of deputation for the Obottes, and thank you for arranging to make the books available to us at E TN District NMI Convention!
“Notes from a Mozambique Prison” Former missionary Hugh Friberg, who was imprisoned in Mozambique along with Armand Doll, has finally written that story. The book,” Notes from a Mozambique Prison,” was recently released and is available for purchase in print or Kindle format on Amazon.com. Many years ago, “The Toothpaste Express,”  about this imprisonment, was one of our NMI (NWMS) reading books about this shared experience.

No Reading Books/Curriculum Available from Global NMI,
but Here’s a Gift for You

The MidSouth District NMI has commissioned  a free curriculum, with a study for adults and one for children.  The adult curriculum is authored by missionary TeAnna Sunberg, and the children’s curriculum is from Kid Min Creatives.
The MidSouth district  has generously shared the free curriculum,  so it is available to all districts  who wish to use it.

To access the curriculum, click here:

midsouthnmi.org/curriculum

Please read through the materials;  then share your opinions or issues with use of materials*, either on line, or at the workshop.  *As I studied the excellent children’s material, I noticed that the link to printables does not work.  I’ve report the issue to the creators of the material, and hope to have a solution by the time of our NMI Workshop** at District NMI Convention

We will explore ways to use these, and other mission materials at our 2023 District NMI Workshop, 3:00 PM, est, Tuesday, July 11, at Cleveland 1st Church of the Nazarene…Assembly/NMI Convention registration will open at Lee University soon after our workshop**, leaving you time for dinner before the opening service of district assembly.

Send email (click live link below) to indicate number from your church that will attend workshop

Another Gift for You

Our E TN retired missionary, Geneva Silvernail, has written yet another wonderful story about her experience as a missionary in Africa.

This one, about a wedding in what is now eSwatini, is perfect to use at this time of year…June weddings!  Be sure to find the story attached to this newsletter!

ABOUT OFFERINGS FOR ALL SERVICES

For Frazier services, for AREA WIDE services involving churches from multiple zones/ mission areas:    Write check to GLOBAL TREASURER, CHURCH of the NAZARENE…            Be sure to identify your church on your check (church name & ID number);                          Any loose cash in offering should be credited to host church.                                                      Host church will send all church checks to:  Church of the Nazarene GTS. PO Box 854116, Kansas City, MO 64184-3116

For Haun services, if sending check:
Write check to GLOBAL TREASURER, CHURCH of the NAZARENE;                                               Write Joshua Haun Deputation on memo line;  then send one check from church for offering  to: Church of the Nazarene GTS. PO Box 854116, Kansas City, MO 64184-3116

Some have had questions about “Love Offerings” for the Hauns…here’s their answer:
“We are allowed to accept any cash offerings as a personal “love offering ” gift.  But if we are written a check by the church for any among we are required to submit it into our deputation account even if it was received as a love offering.  The reason is because earmarked charitable giving through an organization muct be received by the sponsoring organization.”

The CCKs brought to District Assembly will be stored on our district (thank you, Maryville Church!), to be available for disaster relief.  For that reason, local churches will NOT need to send the $12 CCK transportation fee to Global Treasurer.  However, a love offering for fuel for volunteers who use their personal vehicles to deliver the CCKs to disaster areas will be received at NMI registration table at district NMI Convention/Assembly.

Absolutely the Last Valentines for Jesus Total!
This year, we told our churches that any Valentines for Jesus offering that came in after the March  30 deadline would need to go on next year’s project, so we could get
all our churches credited with FTM before April 30 close of church year.
However, we’ve received a $500 late offering from Chapman’s Chapel,  on the same day we received Gordonsville’s offering last week (but after sending newsletter). That brought  FINAL offering to       $23,722.50!
We are working daily with Field Superintendent, Jay Sunberg*, to get the offering sent in, credited & disbursed in Poznan, Poland for Sweet Surrender.
Missionaries Jay & Teanna Sunberg* are taking over Sweet Surrender ministry as
Andrew & Hayley Tarrant move to Canada.
