Suffering Due to Coronavirus

  • As of 7 February 2020, more than 31,000 cases of the Novel Coronavirus had been confirmed globally. Please pray for those suffering with the illness, those who have lost loved ones to it, and for the medical professionals treating those who are ill or who are seeking a cure for the disease. Pray also for the Church, as it determines the appropriate responses to the pandemic.

Coming Soon:  “Valentines for Jesus”
Every year, our district’s awesome mission leaders are eager for information and resources to help them inform their churches about the “Valentines for Jesus” offering.  Since this project is specific to our district, there are no resources provided by Global NMI.  So, we create them!  Thanks to Stephanie Miller and Harmon & Cindy Schmelzenbach, for videos at http://etnmi.org/resources/.
More are being added…check back by first of January.

This is a PERFECT year for us to have a project for PNG, on the Asia Pacific region, since the lessons in  children’s missionary study book, “Kidz Passports to Missions” are all from Asia Pacific.  The Papua New Guinea (PNG) lesson, pages 90-96, has a story, craft ideas, and activity pages.

One interesting fact about PNG:  Pigs are important part of the PNG culture. They are considered signs of wealth in PNG.  During kung gars, or pig festivals, up to 1,000 pigs are eaten!

Africa South-East Field hosts wives of district superintendents in holiday conference

On April 23-26, Africa SE Field held their first retreat/conference for district superintendents and their wives. Meeting in Lusaka, Zambia, we traveled by bus the next day to Livingstone. There was much rejoicing, singing and friendships created during the seven-hour journey. Even when the bus broke down, which delayed our dinner and arrival at the lodges until quite late, most were laughing and enjoying one another. The group was hosted by Pastor Smoke Chewe and his congregation at Nazarene Church of Livingstone.

When I read this report from “Out of Africa” newsletter this week, I was excited to see that this historic retreat was in Lusaka, Zambia, home of our LINKS Gary and Penny Sidle! I remembered stories about Rev. Smoke Chewe from our recent deputation services. What fun it is to meet our missionaries in person, then have mission stories “come alive” because of it!

Mission Opportunities at Family Camp Next Week

Bring attic treasures for the NMI Attic Sale for Work and Witness to the room under the tabernacle after 2:00 PM EST. Every dollar earned at this event goes into an account for district work and witness.
